Pak releases PM-Covid package audit report under IMF pressure, Rs 40 bn irregularities revealed

Islamabad, Nov 27 (UNI) Pakistan has disclosed more than Rs 40 billion irregularities while releasing its audit report, under International Monetary Fund's (IMF) pressure, of expenditures incurred on Covid-19.
According to a report by The Express Tribune, the findings of the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) –the constitutional body – showed misprocurement, payments to ineligible beneficiaries, cash withdrawal through fake biometrics and procurement of substandard goods by Utility Stores Corporation (USC) for consumption.
The release of the report was one of the five demands made by the IMF to Pakistan if it wanted Rs 1 billion loan tranche by January 2022.
