PM Modi tweets on his interactions with world leaders at COP26

Glasgow/New Delhi, Nov 2 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted on his interactions with several world leaders on the sidelines of Monday’s COP26 in Glasgow, including with President Chan Santokhi of Suriname, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Nepal PM Sher Bahadur Deuba and Australian PM Scott Morrison.
He also interacted with Prince Charles of UK, with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and with Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
On his meeting with Indian-origin Suriname President Chandrikapersad "Chan" Santokhi, the PM tweeted:
“Delighted to get the opportunity to meet my friend, President Chan Santokhi of Suriname, a nation with which India has deep-rooted cultural linkages.
“You may recall I had mentioned his oath taking ceremony during one of the #MannKiBaat programmes,” he said, with a link to the radio programme in which he talked about President Santokhi and how he took his oath of presidency in Sanskrit last year.
On his meeting with the EU Council President, the PM tweeted: “Happy to have met you in Glasgow after the very fruitful interaction in Rome.
“As I highlighted during my speech yesterday, India will always strengthen any effort for sustainable development.”
This was in reply to Ursula von der Leyen tweeting: “Good to continue close collaboration with PM @narendramodi #COP26 as well.
“India is a key partner on fighting global climate.
“I greatly appreciate PM Modi’s leadership,” she posted.
He also replied to Israeli PM Naftali Bennett, who while meeting the PM on Monday had tweeted: “It was truly great to finally meet you, @NarendraModi.”
Prime Minister Modi, in reply, tweeted:
“Indeed!
“We shall continue working together for stronger bilateral ties and for a better planet.
“The people of India deeply value the friendship with Israel.”
On his meeting with Nepal PM Sher Bahadur Deuba, he posted:
“Met PM @SherBDeuba in Glasgow. It is important we keep working together for sustainable development. He rightly highlighted the threat of climate change to the Himalayan region.”
He also tweeted on his meeting with the Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
“Never a dull moment when you are meeting the one and only @ScottMorrisonMP,” the PM wrote, to which the Australian leader replied:
“Wonderful to see my good friend @narendramodi.”
On his meeting with Prince Charles, he posted:
“It is always a delight to interact with The Prince of Wales. His passion towards caring for the environment is outstanding. He is at the forefront of many efforts to further sustainable development.
“Had a great meeting with him in Glasgow.
@ClarenceHouse.”
“From Rome to Glasgow, the interactions with Chancellor Merkel continue,” he tweeted on his meeting with Merkel.
On his meeting with the Sri Lankan President, he wrote: “Happy to have met you here in Glasgow, President @GotabayaR”.
