Delhi, Seoul to cooperate in education, health sectors

Seoul, Sep 14 (UNI) An agreement on the establishment of friendship and cooperation between the Delhi Government and Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG), Republic of Korea was signed here on Friday.
The twin city agreement between was signed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Seoul Government Mayor Park Won-Soon. The MoU was signed on various fronts including environment, tourism, science and technology, education, solid waste management, infrastructure, public health and smart city.
As per the agreement, both the parties will conduct regular meetings to communicate on all programmes, project and activities that are to be undertaken. They will also develop an annual joint action plan.
The agreement will remain in force for three years with effect from Septemeber 14, 2018. It was also agreed that any dispute arising out of the implementation of the agreement will be settled through direct negotiations.
After signing the agreement, the Chief Minister said, "I have an appeal on this occasion to make – let this MoU between the governments of Delhi and Seoul not merely be another piece of an official document, let us try and convert it into a living document, since it is being signed for mutual cooperation in multiple fields." Mr Kejriwal said the governments of both cities can help each other in many ways.
" Delhi has double the population of Seoul and roughly thrice the area, however, both cities seem to have some common issues to be addressed," he stated.
The Chief Minister also invited the Seoul Metropolitan Government to visit Delhi and take the mutual cooperation forward.
