U.S. House panels probe into Fort Hood base where 28 soldiers die this year

Washington, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) Two panels of the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday launched an investigation into recent soldier deaths at military base Fort Hood, Texas, days after the 28th soldier died at the post this year.

The Democrat-led House Oversight and Reform Subcommittee on National Security and the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Military Personnel "are jointly investigating whether an alarming pattern of recent tragedies at Fort Hood, Texas, may be symptomatic of underlying leadership, discipline, and morale deficiencies throughout the chain-of-command," wrote the respective panel heads, Stephen Lynch and Jackie Speier.
