Belgium, Russia to hold cultural events in 2023 to honor 170 years of ties : Ambassador

Moscow, Dec 23 (Sputnik), Andrei Savenkov Belgium hopes to hold a series of cultural events jointly with Russia in the field of music and art in 2023 to celebrate the 170th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the countries, new Belgian Ambassador to Russia Marc Michielsen told Sputnik in his first interview since the appointment.
Russia and Belgium established official diplomatic ties in 1853.
"In 2023, we will have an opportunity to celebrate 170 years of diplomatic relations. This kind of symbolic dates can always be a nice reason for both sides - the Russian side in Belgium and the Belgium side in Russia - to do something. As far as I am concerned, I hope to be able and I will start planning for that already next year to organize some events," Michielsen said.
