Chicago, Aug 31 (UNI) One person was shot dead and five others were injured outside a restaurant in Chicago, police said on Sunday.
The incident occurred at 1:50 pm local time in the 11600 block of South Western Avenue. One of the people shot — who police said was the 'targeted individual' — died from his injuries, the Chicago Tribune quoted the police as saying.
The injured were rushed to a local hospital and one was declared dead, authorities said.
According to the police, he was suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
"He was dining outdoors under a tent when a white colored SUV drove up and fired shots striking him," Chicago police said in a preliminary statement.
Tom Ahern, deputy director of news affairs and communication for the Chicago Police, said that the detectives are on the spot and the probe is on.
