Russian air defenses down Ukrainian drone over Smolensk region

Moscow, Nov 15 (UNI) The Russian Defense Ministry said its air defense system had shot down a Ukrainian drone over the Russian western region of Smolensk Region on Wednesday.
"On November 15, at about 7:30 a.m. Moscow time [04:30 GMT], an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack by an aircraft-type UAV on targets on the territory of the Russian Federation was stopped. Air defense systems on duty destroyed a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle over the territory of the Smolensk Region," the ministry said in a statement.
Russia has been conducting a military operation in Ukraine since February 24, 2022. President Vladimir Putin has said the operation aims to "protect people subjected to genocide by the Kiev regime."
