Kabul, Sep 14 (UNI) Taliban militants attacked Jarm district of northern Afghanistan's Badakhshan province which was repulsed forcing the militants to flee after leaving 17 bodies behind, the army said in a statement on Monday.
According to the statement the Taliban militants, launched a massive offensive from different directions early on Monday to overrun Jarm district but their attempts were foiled, TOLO news reported.
The encounter left 17 Taliban militants dead and over a dozen of others injured in the counter-offensive backed by military planes, the statement further said.
The statement however did not disclose the casualties of the security forces or civilians. The statement said the troops would continue to chase the insurgents in Jarm and its vicinity to bring peace and security there.
