No-Confidence Motion against Japanese Education Minister rejected

Tokyo, Feb 20 (UNI) The Japanese House of Representatives has rejected a no-confidence motion against Education Minister Masahito Moriyama over his unclear explanations of his alleged ties to the controversial Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, also known as the Unification Church, Japanese media reported on Tuesday.
A scandal erupted earlier in February over Moriyama's alleged ties to the Unification Church. The organisation reportedly helped the minister with his election campaign, while it was supposed to be under the control of the culture ministry. Japan's opposition Constitutional Democratic Party (CDP) submitted a no-confidence motion against Moriyama to the lower house of parliament on Monday, the media reported.
With the failure of the motion, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's government will try to get the draft budget for fiscal 2024, which begins in April, passed by the lower house as soon as possible, Kyodo News Agency reported.
