Discharge of water from Jayakwadi dam increased for the eighth consecutive day

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Oct 06(UNI) Discharge of water from the Jayakwadi dam in to downstream has been increased by the irrigation authorities on Wednesday after the dam filled up 99.80 percent due to the continues inflow of 64,454 cuses of water second from the upstream dams catchment areas in Nashik district, official sources said.
According to the authorities, from 0600 hours this morning 80,172 cuses of water per second continues to be discharged through all the 27 gates of the dam. Of them 18 gates were lifted up to four feet high and nine gates up to half feet to discharge the water, they said.
Jayakwadi dam is the lifeline of Marathwada region having a capacity of 102 TMC of water supply to Aurangabad, Jalna, three industrial estates, around 250 villages and about 1.85 lakh hector irrigation lands in four districts of Marathwada region.
