Solapur/ Pune, Jun 28 (UNI) The Maharashtra government wants annual pilgrimage to Pandharpur on occasion of 'Ashadhi Ekadashi' to be safe in view of ongoing corona crisis and hence nine palanquins, which arrive every year, will be allowed to come for the pilgrimage, announced Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
"In light of the pandemic we will have to ensure safety while organising this traditional pilgrimage, therefore, only nine palanquins, which arrive every year, will be allowed to come for the pilgrimage," he told the media after taking stock of the preparedness for the pilgrimage on Saturday evening.
"We are still working on the logistics on whether these will be brought by road or by chopper," he said.
