President to launch Goa Liberation Day celebrations on Dec 19

Panaji, Dec 18 (UNI) The 60th State Level Goa Liberation Day function will be held at the Parade Ground, Opposite Bal Bhavan, Campal, in the city on December 19, 2020.
According to a statement from the government, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will unfurl the tri-colour and receive the Guard of Honour from the Police contingent.
President Ram Nath Kovind will launch the celebrations of 60th year of Goa’s Liberation at Dayanand Bandodkar Ground, Campal, Panaji at 1800 hrs on December 19, 2020. Before the launch of the celebrations, he will lay the wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial at Azad Maidan in the city and pay floral tributes.
A two hour thematic programme on Goa culture and tradition will be presented at Dayanand Bandodkar Ground, Campal.
The First Citizen of India will arrive in the State in the afternoon on December 19, 2020, and leave the state in the evening on December 20, 2020. First Lady Savita Kovind, Goa Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Minister of State for Ayush (Independent Charge) Shripad Naik, Minister for Protocol Mauvin Godinho and Leader of Opposition Digamber Kamat will also grace the function.
The government has decided to mark the celebration of 60th Year of Goa Liberation Day in a big way by commemorating it as a state programme.
The government has decided to mark the celebrations of this significant and momentous occasion with year-long activities starting from December 19, 2020, to December 19, 2021.
Minister for Information and Technology Jennifer Monserrate along with secretaries and HoDs of various government departments will be present on the occasion.
The Goa Liberation Day will be also celebrated in each Taluka in the State. Dy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavalekar will perform flag hoisting in Margao while Minister for Art and Culture Govind Gaude will perform flag hoisting at Ponda.
Minister for Science and Technology Michael Lobo will perform the flag hoisting at Mapusa, Minister for Transport Mauvin Godinho at Vasco while Deputy Speaker Isidore Fernandes will unfurl the tri-colour at Canacona.
Dy Chief Minister Manohar Azgaonkar will perform flag hoisting in Pernem, Dy Collector, Sattari, at Valpoi, Minister for WRD Philip Nery Rodrigues at Sanguem, Minister for Power Nilesh Cabral at Quepem, MLA Mayem Constituency Pravin Zantye at Bicholim and Minister for PWD Deepak Prabhu Pauskar will perform flag hoisting in Dharbandora.
