Raj Thackeray urges Maha to uphold global heritage standards for Shivaji’s forts

Mumbai, July 12 (UNI) Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has urged the state government to maintain strict standards for the upkeep of sites recently included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, cautioning that failure to comply could lead to their removal from the list.
Speaking about the recent inclusion of 12 forts associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj —11 from Maharashtra and one (Gingee Fort) from Tamil Nadu — Thackeray said this recognition is a moment of pride, but also a heavy responsibility.
He emphasized that while celebrating this achievement, the state must remain aware of the duty it entails.
