Mumbai, July 4 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday assured that the new state government will provide justice to all the people of state, as they have the backing of the BJP-led central government.
Addressing a joint press conference with Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis here at end of the special two-day Assembly session, he said that the new government was formed in the state due to the blessings of late Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray and will carry forward his thought.
He further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had reduced the central tax on fuel and some states had also reduced VAT (value added tax) on it, however, the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi government did not reduce it even by five paise, he claimed.
Both Shinde and Fadnavis said that the new coalition government will soon take a decision on reducing VAT to give relief to the people.
On NCP president Sharad Pawar's prediction that mid-term assembly elections will be held in the state in next six months, Shinde said that Pawar speaks the opposite and expressed that his government will complete its term in next two and half years.
Asserting that they are the real Shiv Sena, the Chief Minister warned that action will be taken against those MLAs who violated their whip today.
"Therefore, action will be taken against the MLAs violating the rules," he added.
After the press meet, Shinde first visited the Chityaboomi to pay homage to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and from there to the memorial of late Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray to pay his tributes.
Meanwhile, the special two-day assembly session was convened to elect the Assembly Speaker and to prove the majority of the Shinde faction along with BJP on the floor of the house.
The confidence motion was won by the Shinde faction and BJP.
