Maha CM pledges support to flood-affected farmer of Kolhapur, Sangli

Kolhapur, Aug 13 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Saturday announced that no flood-affected farmer will be deprived of any government relief and assured that he, along with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, would find a permanent solution to flood problem in Kolhapur and Sangli districts in future.
Talking to reporters after a review meeting here, he said that the government would find a permanent solution to problem of flood that ravage the western parts of Maharashtra every year and also expressed the government's commitment to stand firmly behind the farmers.
He directed the district administration to find permanent solution to floods with help of technical experts and Shivaji University.
He also promised that the state government would not fall short of giving funds to tackle floods in the two districts.
The Chief Minister further said that he took a review of crops damaged due to floods in the district and directed administration to issue updates on the rising water level of Panchangaga river, which is currently flowing at 41.7 feet at Rajaram 'bandhara' (weir), just short of danger mark of 42 feet, he added.
