Kolhapur, Sep 20 (UNI) Maharashtra BJP President Chandrakant Patil on Sunday alleged that the imposition of section 144 in Mumbai is a ploy of the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi(MVA) government for quelling the agitations favoring Maratha reservation issue.
Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Patil asserted that the MVA imposed the law, which prohibits assembly of four or more persons, not to prevent further COVID-19 spread but to slyly put down the ongoing agitations.
He further said that the section 144's imposition shows that the MVA is panicked and has no solution to the pertinent reservation issue.
Hailing Deputy CM Ajit Pawar as a dynamic leader, Mr Patil appealed him to charge of this issue and announce Rs 1,500 crore package for the Maratha community, at the instant.
He affirmed that the ruling dispensation must decide on the issue, only after building a consensus with the Opposition.
After the Supreme Court's recent stay on the Maratha reservation, several pro-Maratha outfits have lashed at the tripartite MVA and accused it of not pursuing the matter on firm legal grounds.
They have also issued an ultimatum to the MVA, demanding to address their grievances at the earliest or face severe agitations.
