HPCL gets Supreme Court notice in 34-yr-old land case

Pune, Oct 21 (UNI) The Supreme Court has issued notice to the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd(HPCL) and one other for not paying timely rent for the land taken on a ten-year lease period, starting in the year 1964, said Advocate Aashutosh Srivastava here on Wednesday.
Talking to UNI, Advocate Srivastava said that his client and the land owner Kaur family has been fighting a long battle in the lower courts since 1986.
In the year 1964, Mohindersingh Balwantsingh leased his land in the Bhosari suburb to the HPCL for a ten-year period on a monthly rent of Rs 400. The HPCL sublet the premises to one B U Bhandari and both of them defaulted on paying the rent, the Advocate briefed.
