Aurangabad, Sep 23 (UNI) The Marathwada region of Maharashtra recorded 135 fresh COVID-19 cases and 8 positive patients are succumbed during the past 24 hours, health authorities informed on Thursday.
The district headquarters report stated that of eight districts in the region, Beed district was the worst-affected with 42 cases and three deaths followed by Aurangabad reported 14 cases and 3 deaths, Osmanabad registered 53 cases and single death, Hingoli had single case and single death, Latur recorded 21 cases, Jalna recorded 3 cases, Parbhani a single case and Nanded district nil.
Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 3,608 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the state, taking the total number of infections to 65,31,237.
The state also registered 48 more deaths, taking the death toll to 1,38,664.
Meanwhile, highest 4,265 patients recovered in the state, pushing the total number of recoveries to 63,49,029. The recovery rate currently stands at 97.21per cent while the fatality rate is 2.12 per cent.
At present, there are 39,984 active cases across Maharashtra undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centres and hospitals, the health authorities said.
