Thane, Sep 14 (UNI) As many as 203 villages out of total 430 in the district are now free of coronavirus, said a Thane Zilla Parishad official.

Chief executive officer of the Thane Zilla Parishad Hiralal Sonawane said on Sunday that to identify the corona-free villages, the administration has put up green flags in the Panchayats there.
Those villages which do not have a single corona case for 28 days are termed as corona-free villages and given the benefit of the green flag, he said.

He also said that there were a total of 430 village panchayats in Thane district.
The recovery rate in the rural parts of the district was 79.24 per cent, he said.
Of total 11,257 corona positive patients in the district, 338 have died so far while 8,920 have been recovered.
Now, 1,999 patients are still being treated at hospitals, he added.
