Panaji, Nov 2 (UNI) Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday said that the annual plan for development works to be carried out by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for Goa has been increased from Rs 2,000 crore to Rs 5,000 crore.
Addressing a press conference after reviewing progress of National Highway Works in the state, he said the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had done more than Rs 25,000 crore work under the Sagarmala and Bharatmala projects in the state since 2014.
Instructions had been given to start work on the seven-kilometer link road for Mopa Airport immediately on which the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways would spend Rs 1,200 crore, he said.
The Union Minister announced four new phases of work which included road from Naveli to Kunkali.
For the six and a half km long road, 24 hectares of land has been acquired at an estimated cost of Rs 270 crore.
Also, the eight km road from Kankon outer bypass road to Pole would be constructed at a cost of Rs 200 crore. A total of Rs 1,250 crore has been sanctioned for Sanjeevani Sugar Factory, Rs 200 crore for Dharbandoda to Khandepar road and Rs 575 crore for Fonda to Bhoma four-lane road.
Mr Gadkari said the dredging work sanctioned by the Shipping Ministry for the Morgaon port from the Sagarmala project was incomplete and would be completed soon.
The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for electronic clusters, pharmaceutical factories, fishing harbors had been completed and the projects would be completed soon, he said
He said the Mumbai-Goa highway project was pending in the Supreme Court but expressed hope that a solution would be found soon.
Development work was being undertaken taking care of the environment and ecology, he said.
