Police rescue over 100 animals; Cases registered against illegal slaughter networks

Beed/Jalgaon, May 29 (UNI) Police in Maharashtra carried out a crackdown on alleged illegal cattle slaughter activities in Beed and Jalgaon districts, rescuing more than 100 animals, seizing livestock and other material worth over Rs 22 lakh, and registering criminal cases against multiple accused persons.
In Beed district, Police conducted a raid after receiving information regarding a large number of animals being confined in an open field and within a babul grove near the Pimpaleshwar Mahadev Temple area in Ashti town for alleged illegal slaughter purposes. Acting on the tip-off, police teams raided the location and rescued a total of 55 animals, including 48 cows and bulls, three calves and four Jersey cows.
Police also conducted a raid at the Gavare settlement, where 51 bovine animals allegedly kept for slaughter were rescued. The livestock seized in the operation was valued at approximately Rs 10.64 lakh. Based on a complaint lodged by Police Constable Pravin Kshirsagar, a case was registered at Ashti Police Station. Several suspected traffickers are reported to have fled and efforts are underway to trace them.
