SSS chief Raju Shetty along with about 250 workers booked for violation of lockdown rules

Kolhapur, Jan 26 (UNI) The city police filed a criminal complaint against Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghstana (SSS) president Raju Shetty and other 255 party workers for alleged violation of the lockdown rules by taking out a tractor rally from Sangli to Kolhapur in support of ongoing farmers' agitation in Delhi for repeal of three agri laws enacted by the NDA-led central government.
Mr Shetty along with five other leaders and about 250 party workers took out the tractor rally from Sangli to Kolhapur in violation of the district collector's order of lockdown and also for defying social distance regulation during the rally, risking the possibility of spread of coronavirus infection.
Taking note of this, the Laxmipuri police have registered cases against Shetty, other leaders and about 250 party workers under sections 188, 269 of Indian Penal Code, sections 2 & 3 of Epidemic (prevention) law and section 51 of National Disaster Management Act among others, an official press release said here.
