BMC security guard falls in open chamber of water purification plant, dies

Thane, Jun 22 (UNI) A 54-year-old security guard of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, posted at the Yevai water purification plant at Panjrapole of Bhiwandi, fell into an open chamber at the plant and died.

The incident occurred on the intervening night of June 19/20, police said.
On Friday night, he came on his night duty as usual and while taking rounds near the pipeline in the water treatment plant, he accidentally fell into the open chamber and died instantly.
Next day at around 1500 hours, when the next group of guards came on duty, they found his two-wheeler parked near the gate but did not find him.
Upon checking, they found his body in the chamber.
The guard, Shivram Bhoir, resident of Mohacha Pada in Pundas village, was the husband of deputy sarpanch of the village Sharmila Bhoir.
He was employed with the BMC for last more than 35 years.
Police have registered a case of accidental death in this regard, sources said, adding, further probe was on.
