Terrorists neutralised in Sunderbani were foreigners: Army

Jammu, Mar 28 (UNI) Hours after a fierce gun battle was over, Army identified the eliminated terrorists as foreigners.
“We have received inputs from intelligence sources about presence of heavily armed terrorists in Sunderbani area following which a joint operation was launched by Police, Army and BSF,” a senior army officer said.
He said that at around 0730 hours, terrorists opened fire at army troops which was effectively retaliated and the fire-fight started, adding, “in the gun battle, four foreign terrorists were neutralized.”
He added that four AK rifles, ammunition and war like store was recovered from the slain terrorists including Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
However, police statement said that forces have eliminated a group of four fidayeen terrorists in Sunderbani area in a well coordinated day long operation.
Search operation in the villages of Sunderbani was going on since last two days after some specific inputs and last night, a strong input was developed after which a joint column of police, army and BSF launched an operation in the area Rawariya Talla near a security establishment, said the statement.
It further added that terrorist were hiding in bushes, fired on search party after which whole area was cordoned by police, army and BSF while additional reinforcement was also rushed to the spot and fierce gunfight started.
“In this day long operation, four terrorists have been gunned down whose identity is yet to be ascertained,” it added.
Group of militants was of fidayeen nature and was carrying huge amount of arms and ammunition including explosives were in attempt to carry out a major militant attack somewhere which has been foiled successfully, said police adding, “huge amount of arms and ammunition have been recovered from the spot while their bodies have also been recovered”.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police had tweeted that all the four terrorists, who recently infiltrated from the LOC have been eliminated.
The police chief also lauded the troops for killing all the terrorists.
District Administration Rajouri had also ordered closure of all the schools in Sunderbani.
An alert has also been sounded in Jammu in view of gun battle.
