DVK lodges complaint against Rajni

Coimbatore, Jan 17 (UNI) The Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam (DVK) today
lodged a complaint with the city police demanding action against actor
Rajinikanth for his recent comments critical of Rationalist leader Periyar.
The members of DVK met Commissioner of Police Sumit Sharan and filed
a complaint demanding action against the actor.
In his petition, DVK president (Coimbatore city) M Nehrudass, accused
Rajinikanth of insulting Periyar in his speech at the 50th anniversary of
Tamil magazine 'Thuglak' held in Chennai on January 14.
In his address the actor spoke about how images of unclothed Lord Rama
and Sita were allegedly displayed at a rally led by Periyar in Salem in 1971,
according to the petition.

Six fishermen rescued in Gangolli coast

Udupi, Jan 17 (UNI) Six fishermen were rescued by members of another fishing boat after their boat capsized off Gangolli coast in the District recently.

Police on Friday said that the fishing boat, belonging to Jayalakshmi of Kodi Kanyana, had set sail from Malpe towards Gangolli on the night of January 12. On Wednesday (Jan 15) the vessel’s hull got damaged and water began gushing in.
