Dr Vaid was addressing the inaugural function of the two-day live demonstration on ENT surgeries programme titled Rhinoplasty and FESS at Police Hospital here. He said the conferences like this are very inspiring and beneficial to the host hospital and to the attending delegates. The DGP said, 'the police department acts as an emergency department in many situations. Because of the nature of the duties and in normal course policemen and officers also face health issues. Keeping this in view, we are making all efforts to provide better health care facilities to our men and women.' While complementing organisers for the holding conference, he said, 'there is no dearth of talent in the state and hopefully in near future doctors and experts not only from the country but also abroad will visit Kashmir and take part in such conferences and events.' He said under a centrally sponsored scheme dial 108, Emergency Ambulance Service has been started in the whole country and at places it has proved very beneficial, adding that 'if this scheme is launched in our state also we will be able to save a number of lives in road accidents, heart attacks and other accidents.'
