Pak violates ceasefire in Jammu, Poonch: 3 civilians, 2 BSF jawans injured

Jammu, Sep 13 (UNI) Two jawans of Border Security Force and three civilians got injured as Pakistani troops today resorted to heavy unprovoked firing in Jammu and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir. "Pakistan Army this evening initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatics and mortars from 1700 hours in Poonch sector along the Line of Control," police sources here said. They said that the bullets were also fired in Saujiyan area of Poonch where two BSF jawans sustained injuries adding that three civilians got injured in Poonch sector. Injured BSF jawans were identified as Constable Sandeep Jagir and Constable Randhir Singh while civilians were identified as Khursheed Ahmed, Mohammad Kabir and Saddam Hussain. Injured have been hospitalised at Army Hospital, Poonch and District Hospital. Earlier in yet another ceasefire violation, Pakistani troops today fired unprovoked on forward posts along international border in Pargwal sector of Jammu. “Pakistani rangers this afternoon resorted to small arms firing on Brahman Bella and Raipur border outposts from 1515 hours along the border in Pargwal sector of Khour in Akhnoor belt,” official spokesman here said. He said that at 1545 hours, Pak rangers also fired mortar shells along IB, adding, “BSF troops effectively retaliated to the firing.” No loss of life or injury has been reported so far, he said. On September 4, an infiltrator was killed as an infiltration bid from across the border was foiled by BSF troops on international border in Arnia Sector. On September 3, Pakistan violated truce agreement and fired unprovoked in Krishna Ghati sector along the Line of Control. On Aug 30 Pakistan violated ceasefire agreement and fired unprovoked in Nowshera sector. On Sep 1 a BSF jawan also attained martyrdom in sniper shot fired from across the border. Meanwhile, on Aug 28 five civilians got injured as Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing and targeted forward Army posts and villages in Rajouri. According to Army figures, till August 1, there were 285 such violations by the Pakistan Army, while in 2016, the number was significantly less at 228 for the entire year. Union Home Minister yesterday in Jammu had said that since 2014, Pakistan every year violates ceasefire agreement for more than 400 times. UNI VBH SDR 2154
