The State Government has also attached importance on the production of pulses. The estimated production during 2017-18 has been 4.63 lakh MT while for 2018-19, the target has been fixed at 4.75 lakh MT.

The department has taken several initiatives to improve the overall economy of state-run farms and to attain self-sufficiency in quality seed production.

The farms will engage contractual, daily and piece-rated workers to ensure maximum coverage of the net cultivable area under them.
