Eight killed in bus accident in Karnataka

Hassan, Jan 13(UNI) Eight persons were killed and more than 10 others injured when a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus overturned and fell into the road side ditch near Shantigrama on the outskirts of the city on Saturday .

Police said that the incident took place when the bus was proceeding to Dharmasthala from Bengaluru.

Four of the victimswere identified as Lakshman (38 driver), Dayana (20), Gangadhar (20) and Shivappa Chalavadi (36). Other victims were yet to be identified. There were 25 persons in the bus when the incident took place.

Seven of them were killed on the spot, while one succumbed to injuries at hospital. The injured were admitted to different hospitals in Hassan.

Superintendent of Police Rahul Kumar made a visit to the spot.

Govt funds misuse: Yogi takes action against retired engineer

Pratapgarh, Apr 23 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered immediate arrest of a retired executive engineer of Jal Nigam of Pratapgarh for alleged squandering of government money and asked officials to utilize government money in a transparent manner so that the benefits could reach the targeted people.
