Srinagar, Jul 23 (UNI) “Har Har Mahadev and Bam Bam Bolay” ranted in the air when the Chhari Mubarak, Holy Mace of Lord Shiva left for Shankaracharya temple from Deshnami Akhara this morning on the occasion of Haryali-Amavasya (Shravan Amavasya). Mahant Deependra Giri, custodian of Chhari Mubarak, said with the age old traditional rituals connected with annual yatra to holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, the holy Mace was taken to historic Shankarachary temple on the hill of Kohi-e-Maran,overlooking Srinagar city and Dal Lake. The chhari, accompanied by large number of devotees, including sadhus left Deshnami Ahara in the heart of the city at 0700 hrs for prayers on the occasion of ‘Haryali-Amavasya’ (Shravan Amavasya) as per the age-old customs. The sound of conch shell reverberated and charged the whole atmosphere. Pujan was performed chanting Vedic hymn. Sizable number of Sadhus and pilgrims who had come from across the country participated in the prayers that lasted for more than two hours. Collective prayers were also offered for peace and prosperity of the Jammu & Kashmir State. Later Chhari-Mubarak returned to its Abode Dashnami Akhara, near Maisuma, stronghold of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Srinagar. Chhari-Mubarak shall be taken to ‘Sharika-Bhawani’ Temple, Hari Parvat, Srinagar to pay obeisance to the Goddess tomorrow, he said. Meanwhile, The True Trust founded by Mahant Girii in year 2004, shall make all the necessary arrangements like yester years for Sadhus and needy from the general public coming from across the country to join Chhari-Mubarak Swami Amarnath Ji Yatra for their food, accommodation and transportation during the pilgrimage.
