Army soldier killed in landmine explosion near LoC in Kupwara

Srinagar, Aug 19 (UNI) An Army soldier was killed in a landmine explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in the frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara.
Official sources said that the soldiers of 57 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) were on routine patrol at Gulab Post along the LoC when a landmine exploded late on Saturday evening.
'One Army jawan was injured in the blast,' they said, adding that the wounded was immediately taken to a military hospital where he succumbed.
They said the slain jawan has been identified as Rifleman Dalbir Singh.
The incident came on a day when three militants were killed as Army foiled a major infiltration bid from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) in Tangdhar sector in Kupwara on Saturday.
