Chennai, June 28 (UNI) Together, the dynamic duo of Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana propelled India to a commanding position of 334/2 at the Tea break on the first day of the One-off Test against South Africa Women at the MA Chidambaram Stadium here on Friday.
Mandhana's elegant 149-run innings, adorned with 27 boundaries and a six, set the tone early on after India opted to bat upon winning the toss.
Partnering with Mandhana, Shafali unleashed her aggressive batting prowess to remain unbeaten with a stellar 165 runs off just 170 deliveries. Her innings included 20 boundaries and six towering sixes, highlighting her dominance over the South African bowling attack.
