SCR beats RCF, qualifies for quarter finals at 'Gooncha 57th Nehru Senior Hockey Tournament

Hyderabad, Nov 16 (UNI) SCR beat RCF Kapurthala in the opening match of the third day at the ‘Gooncha 57th Nehru Senior Hockey Tournament’ held at the SCR Sports Complex here on Tuesday.
Captain MG Poonacha’s superlative performance, scoring two goals tilted the match in SCR’s favour. This win catapulted SCR into the quarter finals for a face-off with three seeded teams Group ‘A’.
Karanpal Singh enabled RCF to take the lead in the 17th minute of the game by converting a penalty corner, however SCR’s Captain MG Poonacha’s penalty corner conversion in the 21st minute and Lovepreet Singh’s field goal in the 27th minute gave SCR a 2-1 lead during halftime.
