Omicron scare: South Africa's Mzansi Super League cancelled amid travel restrictions

Johannesburg, Dec 20 (UNI) Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Monday confirmed that the Mzansi Super League (MSL), which was scheduled for February 2022, has been called off due to the increased travel restrictions imposed by several nations on South Africa since the discovery of Covid-19 variant Omicron.
The board added that the Covid-19 has made it "difficult to maintain the brand proposition" despite the "tournament having secured an official sponsor".
This was supposed to be the third edition of the tournament after the league was cancelled in 2020 due to the logistical challenges caused by the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
