Dubai, Nov 13 (UNI) After former Team India Captain Virat Kohli, New Zealand Captain Kane Williamson also took up the cudgels against ICC Men's T20 World Cup schedule of his team, saying the side has played their last four games in seven days, before taking on Australia in the title clash here tomorrow.
"I suppose the playing schedule has been somewhat hectic, we have played the last four games in seven days. There was a day off after the semifinal and there was a training opportunity yesterday," he told reporters at a pre-match press conference here.
He, however, said the preparation has been good, but it is just making quick adjustments to the venue and opposition amidst this loapsided itinerary.
Kohli had flayed the schedule of his team, terming it ridiculous after they played their second game of the tournament seven days after the opener on October 24 against arch-rivals Pakistan, stressing that it was too long a break.
Williamson said the team was looking forward for tomorrow's clash and they are focusing on winning the T20 World Cup.
For New Zealand, they have peaked at the right time. The Daryl Mitchell and Jimmy Neesham's show against England, the champions of the 2019 ODI World Cup, was something special.
In the absence of Devon Conway, Williamson said it is a big loss for the team, but they are focussing on the job on hand tomorrow.
Replying to a query, he said the team focuses on their cricket, not on the tags such as underdogs. "I mean look, it (underdog tag) sort of does not have anything to do with us, we focus on our cricket, try our best and we want to keep improving as a side. The different tags is not something we control," he said at a hybrid pre-match press conference.
