Hero ISL 2021-22 season sees most number of goals scored after first ten matches

Hero ISL 2021-22 season sees most number of goals scored after first ten matches

Panaji, Nov 28 (UNI) The Hero Indian Super League (ISL) season entered double figures in terms of matches played with Hyderabad FC's win over Mumbai City FC and the ride so far has been a thoroughly entertaining one to say the least.
The stats back this up as well. With 33 goals scored, it is the most any past Hero ISL season has seen after the first ten matches.
The tally for the ongoing season beats the figure from the Hero ISL 2017-18 campaign that had seen 28 goals scored after the first ten matches.
The tally of 33 goals scored this season after ten matches is also significantly higher than the league average of 23.85 goals at this point in the campaign.
Bengaluru FC coach Marco Pezzaiuoli whose side have scored five goals this season, the second highest by any team so far has welcomed the change.
“In terms of the league, I don't see it as a bad thing, I think it's a good thing that the teams are scoring goals,” he said.
The number of Indian goalscorers at this stage of the ongoing season has also increased from last season with six goals being scored by Indian players compared to two goals last season.
The Hero ISL 2021-22 campaign got off to a flying start with two consecutive 4-2 scorelines as ATK Mohun Bagan beat the Kerala Blasters in the curtain raiser before Bengaluru FC getting better of NorthEast United in the next game.
Only three matches have seen two or fewer goals scored so far with the rest of the matches witnessing a minimum of three goals. A total of seven goals were scored during the season’s first double-header on Saturday.
As the season enters its third round on Sunday, the attacks of the teams will look to outdo the defences again but expect the rearguards to put up a stronger show. Either way, it’s going to be exciting.
