Jaipur, Nov 17 (UNI) Venkatesh Iyer, who made a name for himself in just half a season of the IPL, received his maiden cap from Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid here on Wednesday.
After receiving the maiden cap, Venkatesh said, "Feels good to play under Rahul (Dravid) sir. I am really excited and looking forward to it."
He said he is ready to bat at any position or bowl whenever required. "As a cricketer you have to be flexible, and I will look to capitalise on the role I have been given. I am ready to bat at any position, or bowl whenever I have been asked to. It is wonderful to play in front of Indian fans. It is great to have them back," Venkatesh said.
Venkatesh was impressive playing for Kolkata Knight Riders as an opener. He accumulated 370 runs in 10 games with an average of 40 plus.
Born on December 25, 1994 in Indore, he represented Madhya Pradesh in domestic cricket and made his Ranji debut in the 2018-2019 season.
In the 2021 season against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Venkatesh made his IPL debut.
He has so far played 53 T20 matches at an average of 39 and a strike rate of 135 plus.
