New Delhi, Sep 1 (UNI) Former India cricketer Suresh Raina on Tuesday termed killing of his two family members as horrible incident and urged state police and CM Captain Amarinder Singh to take action against the culprits.
Raina, who has opted out of IPL 2020 and returned home, took to Twitter to reveal the details of the crime that claimed the lives of his uncle and cousin, and left his aunt and cousin severely injured.
'What happened to my family in Punjab was beyond horrible. My uncle was slaughtered to death, my bua and both my cousins had severe injuries. Unfortunately, my cousin also passed away last night after battling for life for days. My bua is still very very critical and is on life support.
Till date we don’t know what exactly had happened that night and who did this. I request @PunjabPoliceInd to look into this matter. We at least deserve to know who did this heinous act to them. Those criminals should not be spared to commit more crimes, Raina said, tagging the Punjab police and Chief Minister of Punjab Amarinder Singh in his tweet.
The CSK cricketer had flown back to India from UAE on Saturday and there were speculations that attacks by robbers on his relatives in Punjab's Pathankot can be one of the reasons for his massive decision.
The 13 confirmed Covid-19 cases in the CSK camp in the UAE was also termed as a reason for Raina's return to India.
The 13th edition of IPL was shifted out of India due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will be played from September 19 to November 10 across 3 cities in the UAE - Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
