PV Sindhu to play in Thomas & Uber Cup after request from BAI President

New Delhi, Sep 7 (UNI) World champion P V Sindhu will participate in the Thomas and Uber Cup badminton championship, President of Badminton Association of India (BAI) Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed on Monday.
Sindhu had earlier decided to give the tournament a miss due to personal reasons. However, on request of the BAI President, she has now changed her decision and agreed to feature in the Thomas and Uber Cup.
"I have requested Sindhu to join the team, as we have a favourable draw and the best chance to take a shot at the medal at the Cup," Mr Sarma posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
"She has agreed and will prepone her family function, so that she can be part of the Indian team and play for the country,' he added.
The 2020 Thomas and Uber Cup is scheduled to be held from October 3 to 11 in Aarhus, Denmark. A total of 26 Indian shuttlers have currently been shortlisted and the final team selection will be done on September 17 for the tournament.
Keeping in mind the preparation for Thomas and Uber Cup, the national camp for shuttlers started at the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy, Hyderabad on Monday and will continue till September 27.
