Paris, Aug 7 (UNI) The Paris 2024 Olympics have delivered mixed results for Indian athletes amid the escalating competition here on Wednesday.
In women’s 53kg freestyle wrestling, Antim Panghal’s journey concluded in the round of 16. Panghal was defeated 10-0 by Turkey's Zeynep Yetgil. With Yetgil’s subsequent elimination by Germany's Annika Wendle in the quarter-finals, Panghal will not advance to the repechage round.
In women’s team table tennis, Germany secured a 3-1 victory over India in the quarter-finals. The Indian team, comprising Sreeja Akula, Archana Kamath, and Manika Batra, faced tough competition from the fifth-seeded German squad. Despite Kamath’s comeback win in the third match, Annett Kaufmann of Germany clinched the decisive point, propelling her team into the semi-finals.
