Gokulam Kerala seeks PM’s intervenetion in AFC Club C'ship disqualification

New Delhi, Aug 17 (UNI) Sree Gokulam Kerala FC has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene as 23 players of the club's team stranded in Tashkent, Uzbekistan after been disallowed from participating in the AFC Women's Club Championship following FIFA's ban on All India Football Federation (AIFF).
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, the Kerala-based club issued a lenghthy statement and said: "Our team reached Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from Kozhikode during the early hours of 16th of August 2022. On arrival, we heard through various media outlets that FIFA has banned AIFF (All India Football Federation) and the clubs are therefore no longer entitled to take part in the international competition until the suspension is lifted."
The club had qualified for the Women’s Club Championship, starting from August 23, on the virtue of being club champions I-League and the Indian Women’s League this year.
