Coach Jamil finalises India squad; five players released from camp

Bengaluru, Sep 30 (UNI) India’s national men’s football team saw five players, including two from Kerala Blasters, released from the preparatory camp ahead of the upcoming AFC Asian Cup qualifiers against Singapore.
Kerala Blasters’ Mohammed Aimen and Vibin Mohanan, along with MS Jithin of NorthEast United, were among those sent home by Head Coach Khalid Jamil today. The other two players released were Asheer Akhtar and Manvir Singh (junior). The move comes as Jamil finalises his squad for crucial matches next month.
Thrissur-born Jithin had been a standout performer in the recently concluded CAFA Nations Cup, held in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The tournament marked Jamil’s first assignment as head coach, where India secured a memorable third-place finish after a tense shootout victory over Oman.
