Kerala LIFE Mission provides homes to 1,16,610 SC and 43,629 ST families

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 11 (UNI) Under the Kerala Government's LIFE Mission, a housing scheme that enables millions of homeless and landless families to own a homes, 1,16,610 Scheduled Caste (SC) families and 43,629 Scheduled Tribe (ST) families have received houses.
Under the 'LIFE Mission's SAFE project', 11,851 ST houses have also been made disaster-resilient over the past nine years since the LDF Government came to power, government sources said.
Scheduled Tribes constitute 1.45 per cent of Kerala’s population, and the State allocates 2.83 per cent of the annual plan budget for their welfare and development—compared to the Union Government’s allocation of only 3.08 per cent for the 8.06 per cent Scheduled Tribe population nationally.
