Depression over western parts of Telangana, 9 killed, 2 seriously hurt due to wall collapse in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Oct 14 (UNI) The Depression over Telangana moved further west-northwestwards with a speed of 25 kmph during past 06 hours and lay centred at 0530 hrs on October 14, over western parts of Telangana near latitude 17.7°N and longitude 78.1°E, about 130 km east-northeast of Gulbarga (North Interior Karnataka) and about 50 km west of Hyderabad (Telangana).
Nine people, including a two-month old infant were killed and two injured after the portion of large compound wall of an adjacent plot collapsed on about 10 houses in the old city here late on Tuesday night due to heavy rains.
Hyderabad Lok Sabha MP Asdauddin Owaisi tweeted on Tuesday night ' I was at a spot inspection in Mohammedia Hills, Bandlaguda where a private boundary wall fell resulting in death of 9 people & injuring two'.
Reports said two houses were badly damaged and nine persons died on the spot.
They include five victims in one family and four others from different families.
The seriously injured persons were undergoing treatment at Owaisi hospital,” the reports added.
The reports also said The GHMC disaster management wing personnel, with the assistance of the local police and residents, pulled out the bodies from the debris. Teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were also pressed into service to help the GHMC teams to check for any survivors.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a bulletin said the Depression is very likely to move further west-northwestwards and gradually weaken into a Well marked Low Pressure area during the next 12 hours.

Heavy to very heavy rain very likely to occur at isolated places over Telangana. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places over Telangana today, Hyderabad Meteorological Centre, said.
There will be flooding /water logging in many parts of low lying areas in the districts of Telangana, the Centre, said and added there will be falling of trees and electric poles over different roads leading to total disruption of transport in the some areas of the districts for some hours to few days.
The Reservoirs overflow or reach to great danger level and Agriculture lands will be submerged or crops will be damaged, the Centre added.
Several areas in Hyderabad were flooded and vehicles are unable to move due to flooded roads. At least 14 districts of Telangana have been affected, Official sources said.
Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) lifted two floodgates of the Himayat Sagar Reservoir to release 1,300 cusecs of water into downstream Musi river after it touched its Full Tank Level (FTL).
The Reservoir was filled to the brim due to incessant rainfall experienced over the past few days in its catchment areas.
More gates will be lifted subsequently based on the inflows. The last time the floodgates were opened was in 2010. The reservoir has a total of 17 flood gates.
The FTL of Himayatsagar is 1763.50 feet with a capacity of 2.968 TMC.
HMWS&SB Managing Director M Dana Kishore has alerted the district administration of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy as well as the GHMC and police to secure any hutments along the course of the Musi.
Those residing downstream of the Himayatsagar reservoir will be alerted, he added.
