Hyderabad/Vijayawada, Oct 14 (UNI) Atleast 18 people were killed in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh
after heavy rains battered the two telugu states since the last two days while President Ram Nath Kovind dialled Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and Prime Minister Spoke to Chief Ministers---K Chandrashekar Rao and Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to find out the situation.
Telangana's capital city Hyderabad bore the brunt of unimaginable nature's fury following unabated heavy rains during the past three days leaving at least eight dead and throwing normal life out of gear.
Eight people including an infant were killed and four others critically hurt when a boundary wall collapsed in Mohammadnagar in the older part of the city late on Tuesday night.
Several residential colonies were waterlogged and flood water entered many houses and even the famous Balkampet temple was not spared which was under knee deep water owing to the incessant rains said to be the heaviest recorded rainfall in recent decades in the city..
Scores of roads in many parts of the city turned into cesspools disrupting traffic flow while several drains were overflowing following the heavy rains.
Police imposed traffic restrictions in many parts of the city as roads were flooded following the heavy downpour.
The authorities have declared a two-day general holiday on October 14 and 15 owing to the heavy spells of rain and the people were advised not to venture out of their homes unless it was important.
