Heavy rains : Orange Alert issued for Idukki dam as water level rises to 2398.32 ft

Idukki, Nov 12 (UNI) An Orange Alert has been sounded for Idukki dam in Kerala on Friday as the water level rose to 2398.32 feet as against its maximum storage capacity of 2403 feet, as per the latest data, following heavy rains in the catchment areas.
An official release said, as per today's Rule Curve of 2400.03 ft, the Blue Alert has to be issued when the water level touches 2392.03 ft and the Orange Alert at 2398.03 ft.
Idukki District Collector took steps to alert various departments and people living in the downstream of the dam to move to safer places.
