Rescue team gives up hope of finding any survivor underneath debris

Madikeri, Aug 23 (UNI) After a frantic search for 16 days, search teams have given up the search for two persons who are buried deep underneath the debris of a massive landslide at Talacauvery in Kodagu district.
Five persons, including Narayanachar, the Chief Priest of Talacauvery, were buried alive after a portion of Gajagiri Hill, adjoining Brahmagiri Hill, at Talacauvery collapsed on two houses on the midnight of August 5.
Three bodies — Narayanachar, his brother Ananda Theertha and Assistant Priest Ravikiran Bhat — were traced and family members performed last rites but the remains of Narayanachar’s wife Shantha Achar and Assistant Priest Srinivas Bhat could not be traced.
