Cloubursts in India a foreign conspiracy : Telangana CM

Bhadrachalam, July 17 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday claimed that the cloudbursts in some parts of the country could be the result of a conspiracy by some countries and this is what happened in the godavari region which caused floods in the river due to heavy rains in the catchment areas.
Talking to reporters after inspecting the flood hit areas here, he said measures will be taken to protect Bhadrachalam town from flooding permanently.
The Chief Minister called the cloudbursts “a conspiracy”. “There is a new phenomenon called cloudbursts. This is what happened in the Godavari region which caused the floods.
There are reports that these cloudbursts are a conspiracy by foreign countries. They first did a cloudburst in Leh-Ladakh, then in Uttarakhand, and now in Godavari area, KCR said.
There are theories that these cloudbursts are being done to destabilise the country,” Chandrashekar Rao contended.
He however, said, 'these claims are unverified'.
The Chief Minister said that it was “God’s miracle” that the dam on the Kadem river, a tributary of Godavari, in Nirmal district was able to withstand the floods in river godavari.
“It is God’s miracle that the dam survived. Its maximum capacity is about 2.90 lakh cusecs. During this flood, it reached 5 lakh cusecs and it is a miracle it is still standing. Thankfully, there is no loss of life in spite of the heavy floods,” he said, adding that the state government had asked the Army for help and sent NDRF teams and kept SDRF teams and helicopters stand by.
KCR said Singareni Collieries and the state government will allocate at least Rs 1,000 crore to build residential colonies for people living in flood-prone areas here.
The state government is planning develop embankments around Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple and the government will also take up the repair work of embankments towards Burgampadu.
Chandrashekar Rao has also announced a financial assistance of Rs 10,000 and 20 kg rice per family to those staying at flood relief camps.
The district officials were instructed to identify land at a higher altitude to construct new residential colonies for the flood victims.
The people living in the flood prone areas will be shifted to the newly built residential colonies, he added.
