Over 65,000 cusec water released from Sonna Barrage

Kalaburagi, Oct 13 (UNI) Due to heavy rain in the catchment areas of River Bhima resulting in increased inflow at the Sonna Barrage built across the river in Afzalpur taluk of Kalaburagi district, 65,000 cusecs of water was released from the barrage into the river on Tuesday.
As per information provided by the Officials of Bhima Lift Irrigation Project, the barrage was receiving 80,000 cusecs of water and the same amount was released into the river course as a precautionary measure.
He also cautioned people along the river banks against going to the river or letting their cattle into the river for drinking water.
