Telangana records 461 new COVID-19 cases, three fatalities until Thursday night

Hyderabad, Jan 1 (UNI) Telangana added 461 fresh cases of Coronavirus until 2000 hrs on Thursday taking the COVID-19 caseload to 2,86,815 so far.
As of Thursday, the overall death toll in the state till date stood at 1,544 as three more patients died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours constituting a case fatality rate of 0.53 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.4 per cent, according to a state health department bulletin on Friday.
As many as 617 people have recovered from coronavirus statewide between Wednesday and Thursday taking the cumulative number of recoveries to 2,79,456 thus far translating a recovery rate of 97.43 per cent while the national recovery rate was 96.1 per cent.
Currently, the state has 5,815 active cases including 3,674 individuals in home or institutional isolation, the bulletin said.
Of the 42,013 samples tested in the state during the last 24 hours to detect the contagious virus, the results of 763 swab samples were pending.
So far, 69,24,707 COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state since the outbreak of the pandemic.
Among the districts, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation contributed a maximum of 108 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours followed by Rangareddy (44), Medchal Malkajgiri (41), Karimnagar (31), Warangal Urban (22), Suryapet and Sangareddy 15 each, Nalgonda (14), Nizamabad (13) and Mancherial (12).
The remaining coronavirus cases of the day were reported by other districts, the bulletin added .
